CHARLESTON MAN LAUNCHES BDVIBEZ LINE OF HATS TO PROMOTE HOPE

In 2013 Richard Allen Kraft lost his battle to depression and addiction and ended his own life. Two years later his friend Bryan Derrickson was dealing with struggles of his own, which he worked through with the help of family, friends and an excellent support system. Recognizing that he was lucky to come out of a dark period unscathed and still reeling from the loss of his friend, Derrickson launched bdvibez from his home in Charleston, SC. Presently featuring a line of hats with 30 designs, all of the products have positive and upbeat words that will spread a message of hope and positivity.

Derrickson says, “At bdvibez we live life with passion and purpose, spreading positive vibes and energy through unique hats. Inspired by the love of life, the tenacity it take to get through life’s hardships and by the tragic suicide of a friend who had a passion for the outdoors, extreme sports and all things related to the water, the goal of bdvibez is to reach as many people as possible with fun, positive messages.”

$2 from the sale of each hat will go to The College of Charleston, Department of Counseling/Addiction and Mental Health Awareness to help a growing number of young adults suffering from depression and mental health issues. Derrickson counts this partnership as his biggest achievement to date.

Hats are currently available for purchase at Bert’s Market on Folly Beach, Odyssey Surf Shop in Mt. Pleasant, Triangle Char Bar (all locations), Blend Juice Bar in Mt. Pleasant, and Up The Creek boutique on Shem Creek. The line of hats, which have been sold all over the country, are also available online at bdvibez.com.
